The brief is to update the image of the pupils residential accommodation at the college and to make the accommodation more homely. The project also involved the over roofing of 600sqm of flat roof and associated external works creating garden areas for the boys and girls associated with the day house. The image below shows part of the existing boarding house that was originally two 2 double study bedrooms and four single study bedrooms.

We were delighted to see Abby Cockram, one of our talented architectural technologists, getting married last weekend and would like to wish her and her husband many congratualtions and best wishes for a long and happy life together.

We came across an old marketing brochure this week from 1980 when we were still known as Vallis and Associates and apart from the fantastic Princess Di hair, the thing that struck us was that the client list includes quite a number of organisations which we are still working for. We pride ourselves on building long term relationships and in finishing a job properly once we are committed and we make this point every time we are pitching for new work, but it is nice to have something from the archives to back it up.

We were delighted to see the handover of our latest renovation project last week. The 1891 building had latterly been used as Social Services offices and was bought by Frome Town Council to create a new Town Hall with a range of facilities for the community as well as traditional council functions.
Frome Town Council is currently made up entirely of independent councillors with no party affiliation and our brief was to create a modern democratic building which would be welcoming to all members of the public.
The facilities include serviced offices, meeting and consultation rooms, the restored council chamber and a café.
We look forward to seeing the Town Hall in action following its formal opening in April.

The new Memorial Hall at The Cathedral School, Llandaff was officially opened earlier this month by the Most Revd Dr Barry Morgan, Archbishop of Wales and Bishop of Llandaff.
The building replaces a post-war hall and provides the infants school with a multipurpose space for dining, PE and learning as well as a space for community use. It is a complex site within the Llandaff conservation area, working around existing trees, managing complex changes in levels whilst maximising the available space for the school both inside and out, including an extension to the nursery play area. This follows over eight years of development that NVB have seen through from master plan to completion.
