The new Family Inclusive Sports Area (FISA) is nearing completion at Victoria Park in Frome. Frome Town Council are looking forward to it being opened for Christmas which, weather permitting, Play Innovation are on course to achieve. It is the first part of a master plan that NVB have developed in response to extensive public consultation undertaken by the council. The next part of the master plan is coming close on this project’s heels, so watch this space.

The new Family Inclusive Sports Area (FISA) has commenced construction today in Victoria Park (Mary Baily) in Frome. This is a project for Frome Town Council and the people of Frome. Play Innovation are the contractor who have designed a series of traditional sports and games for the enjoyment of children with any abilities, such as Street Snooker.
The project is the first part of a wider master plan for the park that NVB Landscape have developed with the council and following public consultation. The contract also includes a new, much needed, path connecting across the park, via the new court to give all-weather access. The facility is planned to be open in early December.

NVB is evolving. Our new branding reflects the bringing together of our architectural and landscape work with our thriving arts venue.
Over the past few years, two new directors, Andrew Simpson and James McGillivray have brought fresh blood to the running of the business and NVB also now has direct control of the arts activities at Rook Lane. We have some exciting new arts projects under development. Details of our programme are available on the Rook Lane website.
Our new branding is designed to reflect the inter-related nature of our work. We hope you like it.

The enhanced hockey, lacrosse, netball and tennis facilities were put straight to work the following day with an inaugural hockey match. Sadly St Mary’s lost, but we wish them all the very best for the season. The photograph shows part of the project team, clearly enjoying the new facilities, from left to right: Angelo Harrison, Estates Bursar at St Mary’s School, David Rhodes, Sports Pitch Consultant at Traction Sports, Heidi Marvin, Director of Sport at St Mary’s School, Gary Mcilheron, Director at Spadeoak Construction, Peter Baker, Landscape Architect at NVB Architects.

Congratulations to Mark Brierley of NVB and Patrick Newberry. Their entry was Highly Commended by the Wolfson Economics Prize Judges.
They delivered “a well-presented proposal with a clear and attractive vision, covering most of the main delivery issues but with added insights lacking in some other entries. The way in which this entry tested four illustrative sites added credibility and the detailed costings were welcome”.

The LVI girls at St Mary’s School, Calne have returned to school to begin the new term in their brand new Boarding House, Florence Dyas. It sits next to the earlier Upper Sixth Boarding House called Helen Wright House which the school have been enjoying for the past four years.
The building provides a ground floor storey with both social space and residential accommodation, and two upper storeys which provide generously sized individual study bedrooms with en-suite facilities.
