New Sports Pavilion for Dauntsey’s School

April 1, 2015

Steelwork and concrete planks are now being installed and the new pavilion is slowly rising out of the ground. The building will provide much-needed changing rooms at the lower level, whilst the upper level will provide both a multi-use social area and panoramic views of the surrounding sports pitches.

The project is due for completion in August this year.

Dauntsey’s School Planning Approval

March 23, 2015

New Maths & Geography Department at Dauntsey’s School.

Planning approval has just been granted for the redevelopment of a 1950s classroom block at the heart of the school to provide more modern facilities. The new building will have two wings separated by a large central ‘street’ on each floor level, off which are a mixture of large and small classrooms.

The original building suffered from poor thermal performance and also glare from the large areas of south-facing glazing. We have worked with the design team to address these issues in the new design, whilst retaining high levels of natural light and ventilation to further reduce the carbon footprint of the building.

The project is due to start on site in the summer of 2015.

Investing in Rook Lane

March 2, 2015

NVB are continuing to build on the success of our arts venue with some exciting new additions.

We have installed a new floor to the main chapel which is more in-keeping with the fantastic arts and exhibition space. The café now boasts a fabulous new bar and acoustic treatment that makes the space ideal for larger meetings and conferences. We have also added new acoustic treatment to the main chapel that has retained the lovely acoustic for music but greatly improved the space for unamplified speech.

New Primary School for Queen Camel

January 15, 2015

Plans to move a village school in Somerset that has flooded at least six times since 2000 have been approved by Somerset Councillors at the recent Planning committee.

Countess Gytha School is next to the River Cam in Queen Camel but will now be rebuilt in a new site on the other side of the village on fields next to the medical centre. The approval marks the end of a detailed design process which involved Public meetings and client workshops in order to ensure the proposed design delivered the schools aims.

Head teacher Sue English said she was “thoroughly delighted” with the result. “It’s been a long process,” she said, “but the children are really excited by a new school and we’re looking forward to a school that is fit for the 21st Century.”

The design has been developed with BAM Construction and is programmed to start on site in May 2015.

Construction of FISA Commences in Frome Victoria Park

November 10, 2014

The new Family Inclusive Sports Area (FISA) has commenced construction today in Victoria Park (Mary Baily) in Frome. This is a project for Frome Town Council and the people of Frome. Play Innovation are the contractor who have designed a series of traditional sports and games for the enjoyment of children with any abilities, such as Street Snooker.

The project is the first part of a wider master plan for the park that NVB Landscape have developed with the council and following public consultation. The contract also includes a new, much needed, path connecting across the park, via the new court to give all-weather access. The facility is planned to be open in early December.

NVB Rebranding

October 13, 2014

NVB is evolving. Our new branding reflects the bringing together of our architectural and landscape work with our thriving arts venue.

Over the past few years, two new directors, Andrew Simpson and James McGillivray have brought fresh blood to the running of the business and NVB also now has direct control of the arts activities at Rook Lane. We have some exciting new arts projects under development. Details of our programme are available on the Rook Lane website.

Our new branding is designed to reflect the inter-related nature of our work. We hope you like it.v7bRGB

On Time and on Budget

October 8, 2014

We are delighted that the new all-weather pitches at St Mary’s School, Calne were handed the over by the contractor Spadeoak on Friday 3rd October, on time and under budget. The enhanced hockey, lacrosse, netball and tennis facilities were put straight to work the following day with an inaugural hockey match.  Sadly St Mary’s lost, but we wish them all the very best for the season. The photograph shows part of the project team, clearly enjoying the new facilities, from left to right: Angelo Harrison, Estates Bursar at St Mary’s School, David Rhodes, Sports Pitch Consultant at Traction Sports, Heidi Marvin, Director of Sport at St Mary’s School, Gary Mcilheron, Director at Spadeoak Construction, Peter Baker, Landscape Architect at NVB Architects.
