NVB win Prestigious Design Competition

June 20, 2016

In competition with Allies and Morrison, BDP, Rundell Associates and Cube Design,  NVB Architects have won the appointment to design a 10,000m2 teaching development for Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in Hertfordshire.

The  project to create a new academic hub is based around a courtyard and will link a number of existing outdoor spaces whilst providing high quality teaching and social facilities for the English, Maths, Drama, Art and DT departments.

The invited competition produced five schemes from which NVB’s proposal was selected.  The scheme proposes an integrated combination of building and landscape and was a collaboration with our colleagues in NVB Landscape.

We are particularly excited by the school’s high aspirations for this complex development and look forward to working with such an architecturally literate client.

Modern spacious classrooms with integrated IT and plenty of natural light will benefit the pupils, whilst the simple plan allows easy access to external play areas. The hall and kitchen area form part of the ‘community use’ side of the school and an attached Nursery and reception class allow the integration of all the community into one building.  The school was delivered with BAM Construction in 44 weeks.

Frome Town Hall Project

December 17, 2015

NVB are delighted to have been given approval to proceed with our Frome Town Hall project with Frome Town Council.

The aspiration is that it should be much more than just council offices and will be home to a number of organisations.  The challenge is in turning a nineteenth century building into a vibrant, open, 21st Century one.

We look forward to returning a much loved landmark to the community.  It is also nice to be working on a project close to home for a change!
